Young Adult Fantasy books never go out of style and every year there are more of these awesome stories than one can keep up with.

I went through 7 different sources to compile the ultimate list of the best young adult fantasy books of 2020. These books do not include general young adult fiction. That is a list of its own. All the books in the main list had more than one vote.

Here are the top 10 YA Fantasy books of 2020.

1. A Song of Wraiths and Ruin

Author – Roseanne A. Brown

Yadriel decides to summon a ghost with the help of his friend, Martiza. He wants to prove to his family that he is a true brujo/witch as well as his gender. And the ghost he summons is Julian. As the two work towards figuring out the story of Julian, the less Yadriel wants him to leave.

3. Fable

Author – Adrienne Young

Fable lost her mother to a storm and soon after her father abandoned her. But the sea runs deep in her blood. With the help of a trader named West she decides to go look for her father and claim her rightful place in his crew. But West is not what he appears to be and her father’s enemies are aplenty.

4. Legendborn

Author – Tracy Deonn

Bree witnesses a supernatural happening on the first day at campus and finds herself in the middle of a society called the Legendborn who hunt demons. One member tries to wipe off her memories of the night but it only awakens the magic within her and also the mysterious happenings around her mother’s death. Along with Nick, she decides to unravel the secrets and finds that a war is coming up.

5. Raybearer

Author – Jordan Ifueko

With every new king in the Kingdom of Aritsar, a new Council of 11 is chosen. There is nothing stronger than the bond which connects the 11 to the Crown Prince held together by the Ray. Tarisai is sent to become one of the 11 by her mother, The Lady but what she barely remembers after years im Aritsar was the deeper purpose The Lady had filled her with – to kill the crown prince.
